    Description

1822 model French Model U.S. Cavalry Officers Sword with scabbard. This sword and scabbard is unrestored, so it has not been damaged by someones good intentions. Used in the Mexican American War (1846-48) U.S. Civil War ( 1861-65) and in the Plains Indian Wars of the 1870’s and 1880’s. The Blade is in good condition for being almost 200 years old with a nice even patina and small knicks in the edge of the blade from battle. The handle and guard are very ornate decorated with a leafy design that signals that it was an officers weapon. The blade is 35” and the overall length is about 41”.
