That is one of many reasons, why the Czech National mint decided to make a silver coin in honour of his memorySo, what even was the Golem you ask? Golem is a being created from mud or clay from the Vltava river, which was given life through the power of mysticism and Hebrew incantations. There are many stories about this mystical creature, but one of the most popular ones states that the main purpose of the Golem was to protect Prague during the 16th century from anti-semitic attacks and pogroms. There are many versions of the ritual that bring to life the Golem. One of them is connected to the name of God - shem. Every time rabbi Low placed a paper with the name of shem under the Golem's tongue, it caused the activation of the Golem.
According to the legends, the Golem is still waiting hidden in the attic of the Old-New Synagogue.
