    Antique Civil War Era 18" Socket Bayonet US Marking
    Blade measures 18"
    Socket measures 3" long and about 3/4" wide.
    Entire pieces has rust and patina.
    Blade is free of chips.
    Locking ring in place with screw around the socket.
    Socket bayonets were used with .58 caliber M1855, M1861 and M1863 rifle-muskets.  The standard bayonet was used by union forces during the Civil War.
    You can still see a faint "US" stamped on the blade near the socket.
