This auction is for a nice Civil War Era M1840 US Ames 1862 ADK NCO Sword. It is 39" long with the blade being 32 1/2" long. It has a brass hilt, cross guard and pommel. It has a steel blade. One side of the blade is marked, US ADK 1862, the opposite side is lightly marked, Ames Mfc. Co. Chicopee Mass. Some lettering is barely embossed. This sword is also called a Musicians Sword. It was for a Non Commissioned Officer. The hilt handle has the initials AHC. It does have some normal wear and tear. The brass hilt has discolored slightly. The hilt is tight on the blade. The hilt also may have a slight warp on one side of the guard. The blade has some rust and corrosion. The tip is sharp. The blade edge is normal. As you can see in the pictures this sword is not mint. Look at the pictures closely and if you have any questions or concerns please contact me before placing bids.
