    Description

    Up for auction is a nice Civil War Era US Springfield Trapdoor M1873 Socket Bayonet With Scabbard.  It is a total of 21.5" in scabbard; 18 1/4" blade. The scabbard is 18" x 5" with leather. I see not marks or stamps on the bayonet. The only mark on the scabbard is the brass US rosettes and a reminisce of what looks like the word Smith stamped in the rivet side of the leather. The condition of the bayonet is less then perfect. It has some corrosion and rust on blade and trap. The scabbard has corrosion on the metal. The leather has wear with some chipping of finish but stable. The rosettes have a brown patina. The blade fits tightly in the scabbard.
