    Description

Early N.P. Ames Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Dragoon Saber Dated 1847
This is an original and early N.P. Ames Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Dragoon Saber. This is an “Old Wristbreaker" by N.P. Ames at the Cabotville address, with an 1847 Mexican war date. This is a very sound sword in very nice untouched condition. The blade is stained and only has a couple of small patches of dark spots toward the front of the blade. The blade is marked “N.P. AMES / CABOTVILLE / 1847” on one side and the other side is marked “U.S. / N.W.P.”. The grip is in very nice condition and does not have any flaking and is fully wire-wrapped. The scabbard is in overall very nice condition with a nice even brown finish. This is an extremely nice sword with a highly desirable Mexican War date by America's premier sword maker.
