Our sinkers are proudly made and or assembled in the USA by a Family that loves fishing with components sourced from around the Globe.Made from High-Quality High-Strength components.
We prefer to use and sell our sinkers with a long tail wire because it offers some advantages over the short tail version, but we do offer short tail sinkers.
Short tail sinkers that we offer come on weight ranges 4 oz & 5 oz (on another add)
These sinkers offer phenomenal holding strength thanks to its unique design which places its cone shaped head with the wires to the front of the sinkers body allowing its center of gravity to work for you once it reaches bottom it tends to dig itself in on the bottom.
When casting it they offer great casting distance capabilities with the 6 oz being our go-to weight when distance casting a clipped and baited hook even when the wind is blowing straight at you.
You can cast these sinkers a long way and still hold on the bottom real good if properly used.(Up Tide fishing), they work extremely well when casting larger baits or when fishing with a rod that can't handle casting a heavier pyramid weight that's typically used under tidal more turbulent conditions.
It's wire legs lock in place and bury themselves anchoring the bottom especially well on sandy and muddy bottoms on turbulent and tidal conditions and release under pressure such as when a fish hits or when you decide to reel it in to switch your bait, and let's not forget if your line gets heavily loaded with seaweed or trash.
At certain times a Sputnik/Spider weight is the best option for holding bottom with your bait. When ready to retrieve your sinker/rig combination simply reel up any slack on your rod/reel apply pulling pressure and the legs will snap/break free from the groves that are incorporated into the sinkers body allowing for an easy retrieval.
As with anything else there is a learning curve with these style sinkers if you haven't used these style sinker before, you can tighten the leg pressure for more holding power or soften the leg pressure for an easier release. They do have their Pros and Cons.
Let's start with the Cons:
It will occasionally get tangled with your leader line when casting long leaders.
They are a bit bulky due to wire lengths and will require some adaptation on your end for storage purposes.
They do tend to collect more debris due to their holding strength and will eventually "crawl" with the current once they become heavily entangled with items such as seaweed and or trash.
Legs can become dangerous when landing a bigger "thrashing/shaking" fish. Watch out for those wire legs!
Pros:
Allows for easier retrieval when compared to a normal "Claw" style sinker since the legs break free when a fish hits or when reeling it in once properly configured.
They provide our fellow anglers with a much better bottom grip/holding strength (weight ratio) when compared to other weights such as pyramids, Hurricanes.
Allows usage of a lighter rated rod while providing good casting distance and holding strength.
Heads screw on which can be easily removed to help with storage room.
Heads are interchangeable and Grips come on either standard or long length size which makes it a great feature that can be easily modified to suit your style and needs.(WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO MODIFY IT) so that it can suit your very own style and needs.
Choose a sinker weight that is appropriate to your rod and needs.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately the tubing that is used on the legs tends to and eventually will fall off but it does not affect its performance.
We can make them with short or long grip legs if needed but it might interfere with shipping time, we suggest that if you are interested to please contact us first!!!
