Description
Neokamyl (Chromatic)This open flute developed by Anton Platonov on the basis of circassian flute kamyl, kaval, Turkish and Persian ney.
The main idea of the instrument is a full octave of the lower register scale.
Tuning slide. Allows you to make micro-tuning of the pitch, as well as make a deeper tuning when changing blowing method from kamyl (tooth-tongue style) to kaval (lips style).
Number of fingerholes - 9
Open and closed fingerings both work .
Metal body and plastic mouthpiece.
The scale from Bb3 (si-bemol, 233 Hz).
Basic tuning of first octave:
Bb' C C#/Db D D#/Eb E F F#/Gb G G#/Ab || bb c ...
Scale range - up to 3 octaves.
There is also a 6-fingerholes version - diatonic neokamyl. This chromatic neokamyl is simply converted to diatonic one by closing three extra hole by tape.
