Description
Original Civil War Klingenthal Model 1845 ( I think ) With Etched Blade and Period Markings. Same design as a U.S. Model 1850 for Foot Officer's and the blade is in great shape and is an unstopped fullered design with the Shield enclosed S and the Oval with a Crown over B which is of the period . The blade is 31 5/8"s long and is 1 3/32"s wide and is 5/16" thick at the ricasso . There is app. 50-60% of the ray skin grip intact , no wire wrap and no blade washer present . The blade appears to be period sharpened and is still sharp and it has app. 10 nicks by thumbnail test and there is only minor pitting near the tip and the etching on the blade flanks and top of the blade are clear and in great condition . If you would like the grip restored I can do that for an extra fee and I will put an aged blade washer on it also if desired . FYI there is no U.S. or E PLURIBUS UNUM on this blade so it could possibly have been made for the CSA market - you be the judge on that . The B is for the period between 1838-1860 and the S is for 1835- and up . There is no scabbard with this sword but I am restoring one in my shop that I believe would be just right for it and it is from this period as well . We can discuss that if you are interested . I sell and ship to the lower 48 states and this is an as is sale with no returns so be sure before you buy . Shipping and insurance will be added to the price and should be in the -.00 range depending on your location and through USPS Priority mail . Thank you for looking and if you have any questions let me know . Best Regards.BC
