    Description

US Civil War Confederate Georgia Pike Bridle Cutter. This dug
    Georgia Pike
bridle cutter from General Potters' raid on the Weldon Railroad in April 1865 was originally shipped via the Weldon Railroad in South Carolina as part of a large supply of Confederate arms and equipment from Charleston to Columbus, SC in April 1865. The train was intercepted by General Edward Potter's Union Cavalry near Bentonville and burned. Hundreds of Georgia pikes and CS muskets laid there until January 1980, when the wreck of the train was excavated. All these items were sold through Atlanta Cutlery and comes with a book (some sample pages pictured) which has COAs, documents, correspondence, metallurgy reports, original design schematics of the pikes, and photos. The pike is dug so it has some loose pieces in the end where the pole would go. A very neat piece of history! Case is included.
These are from my dad's collection, so while I'm knowledgeable on some items, others not so much if I don't have the original auction page. If you see a mistake let me know an I'll update the information.
