    Description

    U
S Civil War Cut Down Cavalry Sword with Leather Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "Emerson & Silver" over "Trenton N.J." and on the reverse is "U.S." over "D.F.M." over "1863". Everything is tight. The knuckleguard has been removed, the grip has been changed from the 1860 style to an 1840 grip, there are a few chips to the wood grip, especially near the pommel cap and the crossguard,
no leather or twisted wire remain
    .
The blade is straight, has been sharpened and is sharp, age spots scattered throughout with a little light surface rust here and there. The handmade scabbard (or sheath) is handstitched, has a few scratches but overall is in good condition. Leather washer is missing. Length of the blade is 6 3/4" (1 1/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword knife is 12", and in the scabbard it is 12 1/2".
