    Description

    US Civil War Model 1855 Sword Bayonet.
    The only mark is what looks like a "J.P.". The brass guard is tight and solid with several nicks mainly on the pommel and the crossguard, overall darkened patina. The blade is in relic condition but still solid, several nicks, it has rust with pitting scattered throughout,
    and the last 1/2" of the tip has been broken off. Lock button is frozen. Length of the blade measures 21 5/16" (1 1/16" wide x 1/4" thick) and overall the bayonet is 26 1/8"
    . The muzzle hole opening is 7/8". From a Kentucky estate, the only thing he could remember about this one was that it was found near a tree trunk by a river that had a funny name.
