    Description

    US Civil War Model 1840 Ames Musicians Sword. The ricasso is marked "Ames Mfg Co.", over "Cabotville", over "1849" and on the reverse "US", over "W.D.". The side of the knuckle guard is marked "W.D." and "J.W.R.". The brass grip does wiggle a little and the guard is tight. The blade has an overall darkened patina, it is straight, unsharpened, some nicks along the edge, and there are age spots with pitting scattered throughout. Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 28 1/8" (13/16" wide and 1/4" thick) and overall the sword is 34 1/2".
