    Description

    US Civil War Model 1840 Ames Musicians Sword. The ricasso is marked "Made By Ames Mfg. Co" over "Chicopee Mass" and on the reverse "US", over "J.F." over "1864". The side of the knuckle guard is partially marked "G.W.C.". The brass grip and the guard are tight. The blade is straight, unsharpened, the tip appears modified, a couple minor edge nicks, and there are age spots scattered throughout. Washer is missing. No scabbard. Length of the blade is 28 1/8" (13/16" wide and 1/4" thick) and overall the sword is 34 3/8".
